Papering over lining paper.

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.56 PM

Hi When papering over lining paper should I just use standard paste or ready mixed paste? The wallpaper is paste the paper. Thank you.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello. You are going to need the right wallpaper paste to ensure your paper stays in place. There are two types: paste the paper or paste the wall, check the paper. Paste is available in a powder you mix yourself or ready paste wallpaper adhesive. Hope this will help. Regards Damian

I would be stripping off the old wall paper and then making sure the wall is smooth for a good finish, when you apply the new wall paper you can then use the paste you can mix

If the paper is 'paste the wall' then yes a ready mixed paste that is formulated for that type of wallcovering MUST be used and not any generic powder paste. Also, it may be worth checking if the manafacturer of the paper has a reccomendation of what paste should be used.
