Damp walls upstairs and downstairs directly in line with neighbours chimney

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.56 PM

I have over the years tried to resolve damp coming from the back of my neighbours chimney breast The top needed reflaunching and also air bricks were added to allow it to breath. But still a year on from that repair. I get damp stains on my walls. I am desperate to get the matter resolved. I have stripped the plaster and after heavy rain fall I see dark patches on the bricks. It is not a constant line from upstairs to down stairs but only specific patches.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Try replacing the lead flashing and repointing/waterproof sealer on the bricks like storm cream, also cap off any unused chimney pots with C caps. Regards Frankie BT Roofing Services Limited

Chimney has become pourus. Needs rebuilding with a lead tray or two added. Lead flashings only go into the joints 25mm so any water getting past this will trickle down behind and down the chimney breast. May need new bricks also if they're really bad
