French polish/floor repair on pine floorboards

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.42 PM

Hi all, I have recently moved into a property with a varnished pine floor; during the move, seems as though a few scratches occurred. Nothing majorly deep, warranting a sanding down etc; but, am looking for a product that will treat/hide these scratches (as much as possible). Have tried some of the Osmo products and also asked them, but, with no real luck. Have scored the internet, but, nothing definitive, so, would most certainly appreciate your help and advice. Thank you very much for all your constructive answers.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The only person whom I would try would be a french polisher. Apart from that I am in the dark. Good luck.

Hi I would use wood dye, select a shade slightly darker than the existing colour and with a rag dab a bit on and wipe in a circular fashion. Dont leave any surplus dye on it. Try the colour first on a piece of floor that is covered by furniture or in a corner. Buff up with a beexwax stick or polish if needed.

Hi I would try some wax repair sticks which you can get in a similar colour to the floor. Briwax sticks which you can get from your local toolstation. Hope this helps

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and call in an expert!! unfortunately when it comes to disguising dents and scratches its best left to the professionals.
