Should there be a doorway/door? BUILDING REGS (FIRE)
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.42 PM
The kitchen is only accessible via the lounge. The kitchen exits to the back garden. There was a doorway from the hallway to the kitchen separately, next to the lounge door but this has been removed and there is now plasterboard. This could be seen as a room within a room i gather, which is a breach of fire regs. Should the doorway/door be reopened? I would like it restored. Is there any legal basis for having it put back?

Not all kitchens have a back door and as long as its not a habitable room fire regs would not become an issue. Install hard wired fire alarms is your best bet
