Tiling

To level or not to lever over under floor heating.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.42 PM

Can I put under floor heating mats down and just tile over? Or do I need to put leveller over the mats first then tile. Thanks

Yes you can long story short. with the levelling it makes it easier to serrate plus you know you have a level floor to work off. if you are confident you can go straight over the heating being careful not to cut or damage the cable also if you have small format tiles always self level

It’s always best to level a floor after installing underfloor heating, but be very certain to test the underfloor heating BEFORE you put self level compound over

You can tile straight onto a heating mat but always check manufacturers guide line. Also, as already stated check it before self levelling.
