Painting of external wall with some bare plaster
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.53 PM
Hi, We have an external wall where we have had a number of areas that the paint has fallen off. I have stripped as much of the flackey paint off the wall and I feel I am now ready to paint. Do I coat the plaster with a 50/50 mix of emulsion paint and water and then paint the whold of the wall with an exterior masonary paint or do I apply PVA to the bare plaster and then paint over. Thanks

Hi
If the patchs are sound and not flakey water down a little masnory paint and use as a base coat if the surface is flakery or powdery use a Exterior Masonry Primer to seal absorbent or powdery surfaces then use a two full coats of masnory paint..
