Fitting UPVC Doors before or after screed?
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.43 PM
Hi, sorry in advance if my terminology is incorrect, We are having an old side building revamped and floor is being raised slightly. We need to order new UPVC doors. A concrete sub-base has been laid to raise the floor and I'm told a layer of around 3 inch screed will do the finer adjustment. What I would like to know is do we fit the doors first and make some sort of allowance for the amount of screed to be laid or do we need to measure the doors to sit on top of the screed layer as such? (As therefore better to wait until screed is laid?)
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi
I would definitely recommend to fit the doors on top of the new screed.

If you fit your doors before the floor screed goes down you’ll get a better result. It needs a bit of planning and the knowledge of what the finished floor height will be, this will give you less of a step and the screed can go right upto the door.
