Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

I wanted to replace toilet seat Have got off toilet seat and one chrome plate and screws, for the life of me I cannot remove the other. Doesn't help that I am a pensioner and recently had a shoulder op! A friend has suggested wd40?? Would this work?? Such a simple job turning into a nightmare

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Tessa, Of course WD40 is a fantastic fluid for helping nuts to come up stuck, especially after years of build up of potential rust. However with a good set of adjustable vice grips and a long handled spanner, you should be able to break it free. Hope this helps! PS: Hope the shoulder op went OK! Thanks JPOT

Ask a friendly neighbour for help or a nice looking white van man down your street, I'm sure they would be only to pleased to help, offer them a cup of tea and a slice of your home made cake, I'd better go now I'm getting hungry. PS. Please ask don't be shy or to independent, you could always offer to sew a button on for them. Good luck

To be realistic and honest for all the time and effort it takes to remove rusted urinated bolts. I use a Junior saw or battery operated replicated saw as a professional cut the old rusted bolts off as customers expect professionals to be in and out in no time. Besides new toilet seats come with all the fittings anyway I hope this helps all the best with the shoulder.
