Loss of boiler pressure

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

Losing pressure on heating system. Unable to find any leak on the system. I have isolated the system from the boiler with the isolation valves and still loose pressure (1 bar in a week). On reconnecting the system to the boiler the pressure increases. Does this mean that there is problem with the boiler! If so what could it be? Thanks in anticipation Dave

I would say that you’re boiler expansion vessel has lost its charge or is in need of replacement.

Must be a boiler issue as by isolating it from the system but still losing pressure shows it’s within the boiler. Possible issue with your expansion vessel, or very rarely but still potentially a leak on the heat exchanger which would discharge into the condense so you’ll never know it’s leaking.

3 possible issues cause this 1) Pressure relieve valve faulty and is letting by ( Check External Pressure relieve valve pipe if it’s leaking) 2) Expansion vessel malfunctioned 3 ) Primary Heat Exchanger Cracked inetrnally and this will let the water come out of the condense pipe. I would say the problem may well be the expansion vessel, heatt exchanger passing via the condensate pipe or possible a slight weep on the prv
