How to stop windows swinging open and close with any slight breeze

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.23 PM

I have jus moved into a new build and the windows just won't stay open. Feel very loose. Even on the hottest day of year the window closes and have been fobbed off with the excuse that the windows are designed to be light. I cannot find a screw to tighten the window so stays open without having the wedge it with something through the gap. Its 2am now and am wide awake because of a window banging open and shut. Can anyone help so when i call to get checked again I am not fobbed off again. There is not a flat head screw anywhere. Edit. The window opens like a door and there is only a spring type thing with q 6 sided screw head to tighten that. Ive tightened that as much as possible but literally no other oblong or anything else. The window feels tight qhen opened wide by opening restrictor but once closed to safe opening it flaps about.

Can you see a small hole that looks like it would hold a small screw? It's usually on the plastic part of sliding part of the hinge. If so you maybe able to buy the small grub screws and put them in. Failing buying just the screws you might have to buy the cheapest hinges you can get, and use the screws from them.

It makes more sense to replace the hinges rather then take the screws out. Most likely the threads have gone on the old hinges.
