Disconnect PIR sensor and viper/contact for house renovation project
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.39 PM
Hello, I have 2 PIR sensors and a VIPER on a window which need to be disconnected as we are starting a house renovation project. We currently don't have a maintenance contract for our alarm. What would be the best course of action to disconnect them? i.e. DIY, electrician, or burglar alarm / security specialist company??? Thanks in advance

Good Morning Matt,
In regards to the Honeywell VIPER and PIR Sensor issue you are having it's probably best to have a special security company attend site to initially de-commission the items and it also may be an option (depending on budget) to plan future works as the renovation works progress (if you're going for a conventional hard wired system).
Electricians are great at what they do, but specialist security companies have the foresight to design and commission a security system to whatever spec you require.

Arrange for a security professional to disconnect the sensors and isolate the zones, as the sensors are powered and you could cause issues if you attempted the work yourself.

Yes agree with guys. Being in the trade since 1986 I’ve seen many people attempt jobs like this themselves and in some cases it has cost them a lot more in the long run. If your having building works then look at what will need protecting. Security in times we find ourselves in now is of the upmost, and it’s the little things people do forget on such projects you are undertaking. Always get advice from the experts and also speak to your Insurance Company as well. But I agree with guys that have commented. Good luck with your new project. All the best Alan Holmes

carrying out the removal of any sensors is not advised & could cause you harm
we recommend a specialist security company who can decommission & commission your security system to ensure its safe & working after any work carried out
