What is the reason for this unusual roof configuration?

On viewing a house with intent to purchase noticed this unusual configuration. There is an extension on this side of the house, haven’t seen this before and wondered if it was a concern. https://ibb.co/BjYVLwL

It’s a parapet wall & box gutter detail it’s a design feature, architects put in to try add character to a building.
I’d recommend getting it inspected, before purchasing as box gutters and parapet wall repairs, are very expensive to fix if they go wrong.
