Gas Hob Replaced, what kind of certificate will be issued

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.56 PM

Hello, I need to replace my gas hob as British Gas advised that it is no longer safe to use, they checked the boiler & that was Ok. Once the gas hob has been replaced, what kind of certificate will I receive, looking online I've seen it referred to as a 'gas appliance commissioning certificate' or a 'gas safety certificate'. I do not need a CP12 or the boiler checked again, I've had a quote where a gas eng will charge £80 to carry out a gas safety certificate on the property after the hob has been installed. I don't think that is really necessary, all I want is a certificate showing that a Gas Safe Eng has installed the gas hob to the current standards. Thanks for providing your help in this matter.

Gas safety cert is all that's needed documenting the model, serial no. & date of installation, also the engineers registration number, this will fall under the CP12 on the next landlords inspection.

You should only need the commissioning paperwork to be completed by the registered engineer who is installing the hob. No further safety certificate would then be required.

It is the responsibility of the last engineer on site to leave the property’s gas installation safe so the person installing the hob has to confirm that the other appliances on the property are safe when he completes the hob install. Safety cert of the property is the only way for the engineer to complete the job

Every Gas Engineer should leave your property with a safety certificate. If you want a cp12 landlord cert it is no different to a cp1 -homeowners cert A new appliance installation will require a Tightness test to start, then installation of appliance, then another tightness test, then commission of new appliance, each appliance would have to be re-lit and tested for safety, therefore no need for a further visit . If your a homeowner a cp1 will.be best If it is for a rental a cp12 No further visit required by BG
