Vaillant boiler feeding hot water tank

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.01 PM

We have a vaillant boiler in the kitchen which feeds hot water upstairs toa hot water tank which has a grundfos pump. The pump on the tank will start up randomly even when boiler controls are set to off. When I put the hot water on using the boost control I get a flashing radiator on my boiler display screen but I've read that means heating (the heating off) should it not be a flashing tap.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Boilers have a pump protection that will run the pump every say 24hrs so the impeller doesn’t seize inside the pump The radiator symbol is just telling you that the boiler as had a call for heat, combi boilers show symbols for both system boilers don’t so no need to worry

Ok depending on the pump - if the pumps an ( orange) brass secondary pump? If its one grundfoss pump in the whole question would mean there is a call for boiler to fire up (flashing). The tap symbol isn't a symbol on the system boiler - only on combination type. Can be done ✔ But as the boiler does two things there's only the one symbol to significantly say there is a call whether its for hot 🔥 water 💧 or for central heating. Hope this helps. Pd
