I have some 2.5 twin and earth cable but looks thinner than normal
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.41 PM
I have some twin and earth cable that is labeled as 2.5 x2 + 1.5, so 2.5 cable. But it looks a bit thinner than regular 2.5, does anyone know why? And is it still ok to use for regular 2.5

Hi timpallers, as long as it has 2.5mm stamped on the outer insulation and its the new colours (brown & blue) not the old colours (red & black) it’s perfectly fine to use. Insulation thicknesses will be dependent on the manufacturer as each brand is slightly different.

If it says that on the cable then it is.
Also make sure it is 2020 - 21 cable or you cant use it

It should have BASEC approved stamped into the outer sheathing
If it doesn't then don't use it
