Landscapers used geofix in rain - advice

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.41 PM

Hello, We are having our garden done and the weather was predicted to be bad for the next several days. When returning home they had used geofix (normal, not all-weather) to point our patio… while it was chucking it down. I read the tub that it came out of which strictly states to not use during wet weather, the colour is also not grey as labelled and I can see via Amazon reviews it is a common manufacturing error that they send the wrong colours out (they supplied the geofix). Any advice on what might happen as it has been done during rainfall and where I stand as a customer because of this would be greatly appreciated!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

geo-fix all weather product is the one the contractors should of used, unfortunately in this case they have use the standard one, however there still a cement based product and do have some tolerance against weather. nevertheless this will have affects on the life expectancy of the joints such as cracks forming causing rain to enter & in the cold winter it can expand and explode the joints, it can also cause a white salt detail called efflorescence (Efflorescence is a crystaline, salty deposit that occurs on the surfaces of bricks, concrete, motor and other masonry products. ... When salt loaded water reaches the surface of the brick, air evaporates the water, leaving the salt behind)

I would get the contractor to return and remove this product and replace it with joint-it the right colour . This is used wet only , so if its raining its not a problem .

Take note of what is said on the packaging, it says not to be used in the wet that is it.
