Expanding foam stain on upvc

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

Tried 'Sticky stuff' and Thompsons upvc cleaner to get rid of expanding foam stains left on edges of upvc window frames as recommended by others. Would not shift them at all. Anybody know exactly what will do the job rather than what might do it? Thanks

Hi Eddie, I'd recommend buffing it with a solvent cleaner, such as soudal frame cleaner, should revive the frames shine and get rid of any dirt, may take a few runs over, but it will absolutely get rid of foam stains, general stains and unwanted grime, be sure to use the solvent in a well ventilated area because it can make you dizzy, it is the best product on the market for cleaning your glass and frames, definitely give it a go, if that fails wet and dry may do the trick for you, 400 upwards grit, and just spend alittle time perfecting it, then go back over it with the solvent, and buff things up. Hope this helps. Thanks Curtis @ackworthwindows

Depends. If it's flat white you can actually sand them. Work from a 400 grit wet n dry, working up to 1500 grit or higher. You follow the direction of the profile, keeping it wet. Test somewhere out of sight first. It may also be a super glue stain where the activator has scorched the profile.

Never use any sand paper on uPVC frame it leaves scratch mark.Always use solvent cleaner.Easy way to use solvent cleaner, put some drop of solvent cleaner on clean rag and rub that wet part of rag on stains of foam or put wet rag on the edge of scraper then scrape it gently on the stains up and down.It will surely clean the stains on uPVC material.Ajay from Star Windows uk.
