Validity of my Gas certificate?!
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.43 PM
A kitchen fitting company provided me with a gas engineer to fit my gas cooker. When the kitchen was finished, I asked for a gas certificate. I was sent one with my correct address and name but the make and the model number of the cooker were both wrong?? Will this invalidate the certificate? Thank you

No harm in asking to have it resent correct, the cert is really to show the work is done by someone on gas safe, if its a real gas safe number it I wouldn't be too worried

The details on the gassafe certificate need to be correct, if there was problem later then there would be way of verifying the work being done, check the Gassafe registration no. & licence no. as well

If the certificate is included in the price, which it should, as gas engineer I’d do my best to have the information as accurate as possible, after all it’s a legally binding document. I’d promptly update it if the customer requested me to.
I can imagine it having more impact if you are a landlord/lady.

The certificate should be correct for yours and his benefit, this is so that if there was ever a problem with the appliance the confirmation is that the actual appliance listed is the one fitted.
