Will I need to realign roof tiles pulled out of place during repointing of ridge tiles
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.43 PM
I had a someone to repoint the ridge tiles on my garage roof. I noticed that some of the normal roof tiles, which are the curved ones, by the side where the ridge tiles have been cemented back on the roof now have one of the edges standing a bit proud so they don’t sit tightly over the adjoining tile. It looks like putting the ridge tile back has pushed the normal tile down making it raise up on the opposite side. Do I need to get this fixed as I am worried about the roof leaking? What needs to be done to resolve this issue?

In heavy rain there a chance it could penetrate through the gap and make it way down the felt. Depending on wether the felt is very old or new and have any holes in, will determine wether it leaks. My advice as annoying as it is, Is to remove the ridge and relay the tiles so they sit properly with each other.
Thanks

Take the ridge tiles up and put them back properly Once the tiles are secure. The ridges are not done correctly that’s wye this problem has accrued.
