Power shower repairs
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.42 PM
My power shower pump is only working intermittently, and is only 2 years old. Have paid for a plumber to come and fix it, which lasted 2 weeks and the problem has returned. He’s not answering my calls anymore. Do I need to find a plumber who specialises in power showers or an electrician? Any advice would be really helpful!!!

I would recommend contacting the manufacturers of the shower pump in the first instance.

Sorry to hear that your plumber do not answer your call. And I'm not sure what type of pump are you talking about - is it external pump for the whole household, so the water presure would be higher? Or it's about pump which is integrated part of your shower? In first option, this type of pumps should work for many years but reparing the pump itself is hard, mostly will give you nothing. There are special companies which can regenerate your pump but this have sense only with huge really expensive pumps. But the pump doesn't have to be totally broken, it may not work all the time as the electric power is not getting there.
If your pump is part of your shower, change the whole shower. Again, I don't know what shower do you have (brand) some of them are just very poor. You said that you bought the pump 2 years ago - maybe contact with the person who fit the whole unit for you?

I would try and source an identical replacement and call an electrician to come and fit it for you. That way they can check the supply to the pump before replacing it.

Firstly check that the electrics are working properly then get a plumber to come and make sure that it's fitted correctly and there's no air locks in the pipework and most importantly make sure the correct has been fitted into the top of the cylinder if not and without the valve the pump will be prone to air locks !!!!
