Should I pva concrete wall in bedroom before plastering & can I apply plaster with a roller ?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.23 PM
I want to plaster my sons room and I have stripped all the paper off right back to the concrete wall. I’m wondering if I have to do anything to the wall before so applying the plaster such as pva ? Also I have seen in the internet people using a roller to apply a skim coat, would that be any good ? Thanks.

Concrete is too porous to skim over, pva won't suffice, the wall will need a coat of bonding, once dry the bonding will need to be PVA'd then skimmed. I do not recommend using a roller, I would highly recommend using a professional to avoid a less than perfect finish.

See if the walls level tape up cracks and then pay a pro you,LL regret it for ever and a day if you don't ,,,for a start plaster is applied twice to form a surface for good reasoo work that out ,you may understand part of this discipline,, it's not called a discipline for fun I can assure you of that yes PVA no plaster it yourself

Concrete walls will dry too quick. You can use “hard wall” but personally I’d pay a pro to do it. It’ll look 10x better at give you peace of mind

If its a plaster wall give it a coat of blue grit before skimming it not seen a concrete wall in a bedroom before or seen one if that's the case get a professional in probably needs a coat of sand and plaster before skimming
