Water and electric hybrid central heating approach

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.23 PM

Hi All, Slightly different question about installing central heating system in a property from scratch. Currently electric radiators. Apart from installing full gas boiler based central heating system, I'm thinking of hybrid approach i.e install gas boiler based water ufh at ground floor and electric ufh at first floor. Assuming first floor bedrooms would be less colder when whole ground floor is heated whole day and during night electric ufh at first floor would be less used hence not much electric bill anticipated. Has anyone tried it or see any challenges in applying this approach? Any thoughts/suggestions welcome. Thank you in advance!

Do you know you can get a full electric combi boiler that works on same principle without water storage tanks in airing cupboards or lofts etc. It work like a kettle with diverter valves for the non educated plumbing people. Other options are air source heat pumps, solar pv and solar thermal or if you have a great big farm, ground source heat pumps and even your own wind turbine. Gas boilers will get banned in next 20 years so I would think about that when installing

Hi, having options with heating systems in your home is a good idea!. Have a detailed EPC survey to find out whether you have to insulate your home sufficiently for your heating ideas to be efficient components when it come to cost of using them. Gas will be changing, and gas boilers will be changing too!.There will be similar boilers, but the fuel will be changing. Heat engines may also become a popular choice. As the industry moves forward with technology, consumers and home owners have more choice!... Spend wisely, seek advice, and speak to your local installer!. Or visit Thier website!.

If you anyway you’ll install water ufh, do it in the whole house, you can use thermostat to control each room individually and only when needed to reach set temperature, so you’ll get full advantage of that gas boiler.
