Damp Proofing

Is Fiberglass mesh worth it on internal wall?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.23 PM

In addition to damp proofing injections, is it worth getting Fiberglass mesh done internally? I'm getting re-plastering done on internal wall where there's been damp over time due to gutters leaking outside. There is no condensation whatsoever on windows. Appreciate your help and insights.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

For the sake of tanking membrane cost and whilst plaster is off, it’s worth installing just to safe guard any future problems. You don’t need to do it if the problem is solved but if it was my property I’d spend the little extra to stop any future problems. Go the extra mile once you never have to do it again

Not sure if you know the difference between re-rendered and re-plastered ? Plaster should never exceed 2.0mm in thickness in the uk, because it’s hygroscopic. Render can be any thickness. Treated walls should be rendered then a skim coat to finish. Unless the wall is in a horrific condition from cracking, mesh is unnecessary.
