When to skim over thisle hardwall
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.39 PM
Hi, I have had to patch up some internal walls where old plaster has blown, which i have done using thisle hardwall. How long do i need to wait until it can be skimmed? I've read somewhere it should be the same day ideally, but surely the plaster would still be pretty wet at this point? As it stands the day after, the plaster is still damp, dark pink and i can dig my fingernail into it. Does it need to go completely dry before i skim? Cheers

No it can be skimmed over after a couple of hours if you decide to skim it the day after use PVA

To be honest it all depends on the area were you have plasterd ..different surface may not have enough suction to absorb the water from the plaster .
this will of course delay the drying time .
It also seems strange that after one/two days your able to leave thumbs print in the plaster..
. So in this case I would allow the plaster to dry out so that you can't leave any thumbs prints or even scrape the surface that easily.
. just to be certain that you don't have any issues when you have apply the skim coat ..

Yes you can skim over hardwall in the same day that is what I call float and set that’s what you do on inside on block work
And if your doing patch work use bonding much easier to work with
