Wet UFH & Cylinder or Combi Boiler

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.39 PM

Currently need to upgrade existing Indirect Gas boiler, cylinder & tank system. Having wet UFH installed, one floor about 80sqm. Would like to install a Megaflo solar PV ready unvented direct cylinder 210-300L so that I can install PV panels in future to help power the cylinder. However will this single cylinder give enough “instant” hot water to supply my wet UFH & 2 bathrooms being used at the same time, a utility & kitchen? Or would it be best to install a combi boiler instead? (Thinking Vaillant eco plus storage model) Thanks for any advice available!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The cylinder would be best option. Ask your installer for advice too, and they will size boiler and cylinder etc accordingly to size of property

I would take a look at a thermal store cylinder before deciding on your options .

obviously the wet underfloor heating is nothing to do with a direct unvented cylinder, i would seek the advice of a renewable energy specialist to ensure future compatibility with any pv system that you may choose in the future. if the property is fairly small then the combi boiler is a plus as it saves space by not needing a cylinder at all, but their compatibility with solar systems is fairly limited i believe. research is the key to not having to buy twice. speak to your solar specialist to design a system with future compatibility that suits your future plans.
