How close to existing inspection chamber and drain

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Hi, am currently looking at getting a conservatory built. 3.25m x 3.25m and want to get it as close to the private foul drain and inspection chamber. The existing drain and inspection chamber comes from the cloakroom and runs away from the house under the garden into the main drain on the street behind. I have had a look through building regs but can’t find out how close I can excavate and lay foundations to the existing drain and cover. Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, This information is in Building regulations document H - H1 2.23-2.26 p14 and further on H4 1.3-1.6 p49. Hope this helps. Callum

Id say if you keep between 300 to 500mm away there be no problems as it could be serviced /replaced

As long as there is a chamber to rod from incase of any future blockages you should be fine. Depending on what space is available Some inspectors would accept a rodding eye.
