Do I need an electrician for this job?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Hi there. We need to either move or demolish our garden shed as it was built very close to the house and is creating damp. It is wired with one electrical outlet. Do we need a professional to remove the wiring before any other work can be done? Thanks in advance.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

All depends on your electrical knowledge. If you know how to safely isolate and disconnect then no. Otherwise I would hire an electrician just to carry out safe isolation an disconnect. Better safe than sorry.

Defo yes. The circuit needs to be isolated at consumer unit ( fuse board) and proved dead. There might be alternative supply, shared neutral conductors causing rcd tripping or becoming live from other circuits and all sorts of other traps. Leave it to a sparky. Best regards.
