Bathroom Fitting

wall mounted basin onto a wall one breeze block thick.

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

We are in the middle of a completing a bathroom in loft space- the party wall is one breeze block thick and think it may be thermo-lite? This is followed by 25mm insulated plasterboard. Basin is 500mm wide and 390mm depth. Can you screw a wall mounted basin onto a wall one breeze block and 25mm insulated plasterboard securely without risk of it becoming unstable? Also thinking of adding a wall mounted vanity that is 398mm in hight. Would this make it more or less stable?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Not a good idea really.you could cut the plaster board were the fittings go and resin fix a batten and cover and fit basin on to them at that point

Hi, There is a simple solution to your issue. Chem fix 10mm stud bar through the plasterboard and into the block wall. Ensure you position your sink accurately, then mark the wall through the apertures at the rear of the sink. Drill and install the stud bar. When installing the sink after the the chem fix has cured ensure that special sink grommets are used to protect the ceramic when tightening the sink to the wall. I trust I explained this well enough?? Regards Neil

Yes, by using corefix plus 30 plugs by gripit and stick the back of sink to the wall with sanitary sealant. If correctly fitted both sink and the floating vanity it will be secure to the wall.

easiest way would be a floor mounted vanity unit screwed to the wall , if not you will have to chemically and mechanically fix mountings right through board and block
