SLABS LOOK STREAKY AND DAMP

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.01 PM

SLABS ON OUR PATIO LOOK AS THOUGH THEY ARE WET BUT THE "DAMP" LOOK ON THE SLABS DOES NOT DRY OUT , LEAVES THEM WITH COLOUR LOSS AND VARIATION AND POOR APPEARANCE. IS THERE ANY PRODUCT WHICH WILL FULLY LEAN THIS SMEAR OFF THE SLABS?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, It sounds to me from your description that the patio has been laid incorrectly. Poor and invariably insufficient base. Regards Neil

Your description sounds like your describing the surface off the slabs .sometimes discolours while fitting ( cement staining Or alternatively build up You could try Using s solution off brick cleaning acid and when dry a patio or brick sealer this will keep the colour and alow water to drain off more easy.

Normaly when there is wet or Damp aperances on top of the surface of the paving is when they have been dot and dabbed with cement which is a cowboy incorrect laying method, or they have been laid on a sharp sand bedd which the sand gets wet and holds moisture so it soaks through the surface of the paver. The only way reily to get rid of the wet patches is lift one paver to see what they have been laid on, if it's any of the above you you would be better lifting the paving and relaying on a full bedd of mortar. ( Dot and dab is 4 spots of round cement in each corner with 1 spot in the middle incorrect )
