Can I build up to plate level before installing i-joist beams

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.01 PM

The I-joist manufacturers have huge lead-times, I have good team of bricklayers now at first lift, The i-joist have been designed to be built into the inner leaf. Can I build up to plate level and install the I-joist after. I have been told I can do a hit and miss wall?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes it can be done. But the problem become’s in making sure all the centre’s are right. An if the joist’s span from inner leaf to inner leaf. Then trying to slide them in become’s a problem.

Unfortunately I cannot help on this occasion because I am a 2nd fix carpenter and have no knowledge on this question.

Why would you not want to put them in? They will help support the walls as well as being useful for the second lift.
