Is a dishwasher installation a one-person job?

We're moving into a flat (conversion) where there's currently no dishwasher and we want to add one in. Right now there's no designated space for the dishwasher. Having not done anything like this before, I'm wondering if this is a one-person job - in other words, would the tradesman installing the dishwasher also cut down/remove cabinets to fit it, or do I need to first have someone create the space in the kitchen where the dishwasher can go and then call a plumber/installer (and if so how would I know where the best place is for it to go or can it pretty much go anywhere if it's a small kitchen?).
