I can see a bit of sun light glowing in the top corner of my loft

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.42 PM

I just bought a house (built 1996) and we have looked in the loft just to see what's up there, and we saw what I can best describe as a glow of sun light at the top end of the roof, no direct light coming in, just wondering if its normal or not

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It's hard to say without looking but it could be a slipped or cracked tile,or maybe some mortar has come off the ridges

Could be a broken ridge or a broken tile no sun light should come though

My best guess without looking would be a broken or slipped tile or slate. Or possibly some of the cement has fallen or crumbled away from the ridge tiles

Usually this would be caused by a hole in the felt along with a broken tile, damaged ridge or the mortar has fallen from under the ridge. Very easy fix depending on the access to the damaged part. Z.C Roofing
