Roof leak not plumbing related

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.42 PM

Hello, Following: (1) a complete resurfacing of an upside down flat roof; (2) internal resealing of drainpipe; (3) making the drain holes wider; (4) adjusting the gradient of the roof drain pipes to allow faster draining, there continues to be drops of water seeping through after rainfall! Plumbing issue is not in question, as this has been tested. Building management company and myself are flabbergasted with this and so I reach out for suggestions and thought, e.g. do I need another building surveyor or roof leak detection specialists, or combined? Happy to share reports if you can leave an email.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, I’m a plumber and not a roofer so not an expert at all. However, we had a very similar issue at our house and the issue was that the builders who had done the flat roof had not used weatherproof bricks around the edges and so they became saturated and the water filtered down through them and into the house. I’m sure there could be a number of explanations but it just sounded very similar to what we had! Best of luck with it. Fred

Get another survey from a roofer, someone has to look at it and study it
