Resin driveway breach dpi and created air Rick ‘trough’

Edit - I wish I hadn’t typed that question title on my phone! Apologies for the numerous typos. Hi all, Any advice here is much appreciated. We’re looking to buy a property and the following issue has been raised by our surveyor, the current owner has had a resin driveway installed about a year ago, but this has breached the DPC. The driveway installer has left an air brick uncovered but it is below the level of the driveway so it has, in the words of our surveyor ‘created a trough’. The surveyor has said this created a risk, with excessive rain (were in yorkshire, that’s a give ) that this could created issues with damp. The surveyor has said a ‘self-draining channel’ should be installed along the width of the house. I’ve spoken to a couple of companies to see if they can come and quote for this but they’ve said they would not fix a bad job, only relay. We’ve also asked the seller to see if the work has any warranty or guarentee and they’ve said no, they’ve said the original installer will install such a channel for £300-400. Were not too keen on going with the he same co who messed up in the first place though. My question is this - are here companies just trying to get the extra money for a bigger job, is it really as serious an issue as my surveyor stressed? What are my options, how can this get resolved?
