Toilet/ shower blockage, internal issue or sewerage?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.23 PM

We have a new build house and have lived here three years. In the past few months we have noticed that the shower and toilet in the en-suite seem to block at the same time. If the toilet is flushed then the shower gurgles and if the toilet is used prior to having a shower the shower tray will fill up and not drain until the toilet is flushed. What is the problem here? We have had issues previously with a blockage in the sewerage drai outside the property (by next door flushing nappies down the toilet) but I dont know if it is this or something internal?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

my first thought would be in your previous problem it does sound like there is a problem with the main drain

I would assume its a vent problem . An air inlet valve has shut on the vent part of the 110 drainage system. Check all vents are working and clear. Or the shower pipe work is run into the the stack horizontal with no fall and is back filling. Put a few buckets of hot water down the toilet to see if this will clear it . If not remove toilet and will need a visual look to see if the stack is blocked. At this point rodding can take place . To clear any blocked pipes. The man hole cover must be up and and a bung put in place to catch the blocked partcals and remove from the drainage system. Hope this helps
