HDMI Wall Plate Fitting

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.22 PM

Hi all, I am looking to fix my television to a brick wall above a fireplace (that is no longer in use). I am hoping that I can run a power cable and HDMI to a socket and HDMI plate hidden behind the tele. 1. Can I run a HDMI cable through the wall to my sky box in a cabinet at ground level? Does it need to be in a conduit or can it be run without protection? 2. If so, can the HDMI run in the conduit/ chased hole as the power cable? Many thanks

Hello, I suggest you use a conduit for the electric cable to the sky box and a different conduit for the HDMI cable that will stop any interference.

Yes that's fine. Hdmi is low voltage and doesn't need protection and doesn't come under zones. But I would suggest some form of trunking incase the cable needs to be replaced. You can transmit Hdmi over cat6 cable that is also another option.

Hi always advisable to run through a conduit because if the hdmi ever fails you can fish a new one in conduit with out affecting the wall Also advisable to separate from cable to mains powered socket So separate conduits

always good practice to keep them seperate or may encounter interference but thats usually over a distance but woudnt chance it. make the chase wider to provide 2 seperate containments, you may need additional cables later as well so think about space for future wiring.
