Windows & Door fitting

is it reasonable to want to put window dressing on a window?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.22 PM

Hi - we recently had new windows installed in the house, including on a large bay window. The previous windows were outward opening. The new windows are inward opening and have been installed in such a way that it is not possible to put up curtains or blinds and the window opening frame is flush with the ceiling. So the top of the frame which holds the opening window is flush with the ceiling. It has been suggested we install blinds which fit to the frame but we don't like these blinds at all. Or that we drop the window by knocking out a row or two of bricks - again, we don't like this option as it will mean the two front windows will be at different heights from the ground. Are we being unreasonable to expect to be able to install a curtain in front of a window? Much appreciate your help. many thanks

Before any windows were fitted the window fitter should have asked the customer what way they would like the windows to open to suit for curtains or blinds

Did you ask the installer for tilt & turn sashes (open in instead of casement sash which opens out? Or did they just do it on their own accord?
