Can you use shed felt under slates

Hi Have a shallow pitch roof abd want to protect it Roof has osb plywood sheets on ,Can i then use shed felt ontop of the osb boards, then roofing felt ontop the lath & slate it? If not then why please? Many thanks

No shed felt is not a breathable membrane you would want to have something to stop the cold air getting trapped and creating damp. If the pitch of the roof is below 20 degrees you cant use slates anyway. You could just use three layered felt system or a liquid system like fibreglass on it.

You need a minimum of 5 mm between the boards and breathable membrane there are concrete tiles wich will go to 15 degrees but me my self i would use green mineral with 2 layers of under felt. It will last for minimum 20 years.

There’s a possibility you could cause permanent damp and thus mould as there will be no breathing space. Just slate it without the osb or try corrugated bitumen sheets
