2 x thermo mixer shower or 1 thermo plus electric?

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 2.53 PM

I am designing a two story extension to my house which will incorporate an additional shower room. As a family of 4 I want to run two showers at the same time. I am upgrading the existing combi boiler too anyway. I have experienced a loss of pressure in mixer showers before so wondered if it was best to have an electric shower in the existing family bathroom to solve this issue. Assuming the boiler I get is a good one, is it still better to just go for two thermo mixer showers?

hi, if you are wantiing run 2 showers at the same time a combi boiler won't cope with the demand for hot water. an unvented hot water and heating system is the best and most efficient way of supplying your hot water and heating. hope this is helpful. if you have any questions please get in touch. thanks adrian

Hi, If you are having a boiler change to a combi then 2 thermo mixers will be ok as you will have mains pressure hot and cold in the house as opposed to a gravity fed system. Just to air on the side of caution though, should the boiler fail then you will have 2 showers down because the combi will not be supplying hot water. I personally would go for 1 thermo and 1 electric. Carl @ 365 Plumbing Ltd.
