Ventilation of redundant flue

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.38 PM

Hi, just to confirm from a question that I asked previously, my chimney taken down to below roof level, flue liner is left open in loft, fireplace in living room is fully open, a vent at each end required or just at one end? Iv got 2 conflicting answers, main reason is the containment or extraction of the smoke smell comming from it now it no longer escapes through the chimney stack which has been removed. Thanks! Darren

Cap the top. Could just use a chimney balloon. £25. Only need to vent it if open to rain..
