Building on top of flat roof extension
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.55 PM
I have bought a detached house with full width flat roof extension. I want to go up across the same area with a second floor flat roof extension for two bedrooms. Can this be done by a carpenter (wood extension then classed?) or do I need a builder?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

HI, I think it is difficult to give a definitive answer to this question, as terms like carpenter and builder as no set definitions! Overall, I do think you need someone who has an idea of the overall scope of the project and all it entails, and that would be a relevant builder, but you also need someone with relevant wood working skills if it is to be a well constructed, efficient and warm building!

You need a good builder with references. A carpenter can’t plaster, finish the roof, fit the electrics and plumbing etc
