Can I connect fridge/freezer and gas hob to the same double socket?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.00 PM

Hi, I have recently purchased a new kitchen including applicances (which I am waiting to be delivered). I am looking to sort out my electrics and get the sockets and fuses in the right place. Is there any reason why I can't plug the fridge/freezer and gas hob to same double socket? The fridge/freezer is: https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/fw925/cda-fw925-appliances The gas hob is: https://www.bosch-home.co.uk/product-list/cooking-baking/hobs/gas-hobs/PCP6A5B90#/Tabs=section-technicalspecs/Togglebox=-1051994369/Togglebox=-1425692570/Togglebox=-638569380/Togglebox=-848604511/Togglebox=1008000986/Togglebox=1107908103/Togglebox=1169464653/Togglebox=1953643052/Togglebox=229297345/Togglebox=610664185/Togglebox=610664186/Togglebox=-582378998/ Many thanks

Spur off the socket, which the fridge will be plugged into, and install a switched fused spur for the gas ignition.

Yes it’s ok to do that however the socket will need to be accessible in case of fault, or it will need to on a isolation switch however if that is the case then if the fridge goes wrong then the hob will not work and vice versa.
