how to remove sticky silicone from wood floor

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.00 PM

can anyone tell me if there is a way of getting rid of tackyness from a wood floor. the customer has had a pallet wood floor put down and the gaps between the boards were filled with a silicone then the floor varnished. the floor is tacky. the varsnish has not adhered to the silicone? is there a way of solving this without sanding the whole floor?

silicone remover ( liquid) only the question is how it is going to affect the wood. If flooring finish is not durable then silicone remover might leave a stains- marks. do a test on small area 1st then make decisions is it worth it. I hope it helps 😄 Arnis from Aafloors

I can't say I've had experience of this particular issue but I'd say that if the silicon is under the varnish then I'd say the only way would be to sand the floor. The other problem that is likely is that if the floor is sanded the silicon/tacky varnish is going to quickly clog up the abrasives.
