Problem with cracking tiles on plywood walls in bathroom

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

We have a ensuite bathroom extension which has been lined with 12mm plywood, 2 vertically placed sheets on each wall. The walls have subsequently been tiled using 300 x 200 mm ceramic tiles. We have now noticed that there are small fracture lines down each of the walls where the plywood sheets are joined. Any ideas on how we can resolve the problem, do we need to have a plasterboard layer over the plywood?

You should not have used ply to line the walls as it is prone to absorb moisture and create the problems you are now experiencing.Only way to resolve it is take it all off and re-board using Aqua panel then re-tile.

As answered above, you need to remove all ply.
