Can I use 40mm waste pipe with a Saniflow
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.42 PM
Hi all, what it is, I've built a mancave in my garden and added a toilet, now I've just discovered my main sewer drain is 200mm or 8 inches higher than my new toilet, so I purchased a saniflow to pump it up the 200mm 8inches, which it'll only travel 9 meters with that slight rise of 200mm, can I use a 40mm diameter pipe. 22mm seems like it'll block easily.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

See https://www.saniflosystems.co.uk/saniflo-faq/ or ask them the question directly. I suspect too large a pipe may reduce the pumping pressure too much.

Hello you must use the 22mm otherwise the system will not work properly, i know it sounds strange but if you connect to 40mm you are more likely to get blockages as the unit will not have enough back pressure to push the waste uphill

For 9m use 32mm max. You’re supposed to rise first and have a gradient to the final exit. We use 22mm copper as you can bend the pipe with the correct radius. If you use plastic you’re supposed to use 45deg bends. All the information is available on the saniflo instructions. Follow them to the letter and you’ll not have any issues at all.
