Fencing

wiring on neighbours side of fence

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.42 PM

We have a shared fence which is the responsibility of our neighbour. He has put lighting on his side and drilled through the fence to run the thick wiring on our side which is quite unsightly. Can he do this?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No he can’t. Get him to wire it totally on his side.

If it's his fence he can do that, legally he does not have to have a fence up at all if he wishes

It’s should either have the wires running down the middle of the fence or on his side. Are the cables a trip hazard? Also maybe ask him nicely to make it look better. But if it’s his fence unfortunately he can do what he wants

No he can’t That means the wire is in your garden Unless the fence is just of the boundary in his garden then yes he can do If the posts are on the boundary and the wire doesn’t goes past post then it’s fine
