Should I receive a damp proof certificate after the work has been completed.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi! A damp proof certificate is not essential. You could write down the work that has been carried out.and ask the builder to sign it! If it’s been done properly he should have no problem doing that.

a guarantee is usually provided by any reputable damp proofing company. its part and parcel of the job. if you've had a builder carry our damp work this is unlikely to be the case.

If you've been promised a guarantee as part of the quote then you should automatically receive the paperwork once the invoice is paid in full. The company has a duty of care to its customers and should honour any promises. If, however, this was not agreed upfront then the firm does not have to provide paperwork. Whilst there is no legal obligation to provide a guarantee all work carried our by any tradesperson should have a workmanship guarantee for at least 12 months. So, if any damp problems return someone should attend to fix them within this timeframe.
