installation of stainless steel wall ties to gable end stonemasonry

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.22 PM

How much will the following cost? Structural engineers report conclusions: The building is considered to be in a reasonably good stable structural condition with the only significant structural movement being the lateral displacement of the masonry panel in the gable wall between the first floor and roof level. We would recommend the installation of stainless steel wall ties in this area on a 900cx600mm staggered grid layout. The wall should also be tied to the first floor and second floor with “Cintec” or similar lateral ties fixed over 3 to 4 joists at 1200mm centres. If the remedial works outlined above are implemented the stability of the wall can be restored. The wall is stable at present so we would recommend that these works are carried out with in 5 years.

Stainless wall ties can vary in price so i suggest a screw in type ( wall plug & screw) at 600mm spacings and every 450mm in height. Price wise? £10 -£25 per box. Price of installing would be in cost of project.

Instructions and drawings showing layouts for fixing and also recommended manufacturers of ties as structural engineers would have to approve the work after completed
