Painting new door canopy

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.22 PM

Hi, Just had a new wooden door canopy installed as the old one was rotting away. Wanting to paint this and the rest of the door surround to neaten it all up a little. Any tips on what to do about flaking paint on door surround and what sort of paint to use? Can send pics if that helps. Thank you

Personally i’d try and get all the paint off. Then use primer. To make sure it adheres to the wood. Secondly undercoat. Finish off with a good quality exterior paint.

Hi yes, scrape flaky paint of if yo have a lot of imperfection I would run a layer of Toupret wood filler, apply 2 coats of primer/ undercoat and I would finish with sandtex gloss or satinwood
