Making my chimney wider & taller in kitchen

Struggling what tradesman I need to undertake the work. I have a small Victorian terrace house with a chimney in the kitchen running down from the bathroom situated above . I want to put my cooker into the opening that needs to be made taller & wider Does it need to have a concrete or mental lintel Could it possible weaken the structure of the house Any help will be greatly appreciated

Definitely need a lintel and all you need is a builder to do the work for you , it’s not a massive job to make the opening wider and taller but you will definitely need a lintel

Sounds you could do with taking the whole breast out. Bigger bathroom. But a good builder should make this a quick job. Say a week x 2 men.. Mark innes. Innes construction.
